Speeches 

An important aspect of being a Senator occurs in the Senate Chamber in the form of Parliamentary debate.  Every word delivered in the Chamber by a Senator is recorded in the Senate Debates (Hansard).  This document is on the public record and is accessible online.

During the course of debate, Senators have the opportunity at various times  to rise and give their opinions about legislation and inquiries that are before the Senate.  Senators also have the opportunity to ask questions to the Government Leader in the Senate during Question Period and make statements regarding other areas of interest during Senator's Statements.  The following are a select few speeches and statements that I have delivered in the Chamber over the years on various subjects including links to the full Senate Debates for the full context as well as a selection of speeches delivered at various conferences.
